The baseline rules for using Kocteau and publishing reviews.

Last reviewed May 23, 2026

Using Kocteau

Kocteau is a music review and discovery platform. It is built for listeners who want to publish reviews, shape a taste profile, follow other writers, and discover what to hear next through human recommendations.

By using Kocteau, you agree to use the product in a way that respects other listeners, artists, and the integrity of the review experience.

Accounts

You are responsible for the activity on your account. Keep access to your email safe, since Kocteau currently uses email-based authentication.

Profile names, usernames, avatars, bios, links, reviews, follows, saves, ratings, and comments may be visible to other people depending on the surface where they appear.

Reviews and user content

You keep ownership of the reviews, ratings, comments, profile text, and other content you publish.

When you publish content on Kocteau, you give Kocteau permission to host, display, distribute, format, recommend, and use that content as needed to operate the product. This includes showing reviews in feeds, profiles, track pages, search, notifications, and editorial discovery surfaces.

Do not publish content that you do not have the right to share.

Recommendations and curation

Kocteau uses reviews, ratings, saves, follows, comments, taste preferences, editorial starter picks, and similar product signals to shape discovery surfaces such as For You, Explore, track pages, and editorial modules.

Kocteau may also use aggregate product signals to help maintainers understand what is working, improve recommendation quality, and identify music that may deserve human editorial review. These systems are meant to support taste discovery, not to guarantee visibility, ranking, audience growth, or promotion for any user, artist, review, or track.

Community standards

Kocteau can remove content, limit visibility, or restrict accounts when content or behavior harms the product or other people.

This includes harassment, impersonation, spam, automated abuse, deceptive activity, explicit threats, attempts to bypass security, or content that violates applicable law.

Music data and third-party services

Kocteau may use third-party services for music metadata, cover images, authentication, hosting, analytics, monitoring, and email delivery.

Music metadata, artwork, and external links can change or become unavailable. Kocteau does not control third-party catalogs or the terms of services outside Kocteau.

Availability and changes

Kocteau is an early product. Features can change, pause, or be removed as the product improves.

These terms may be updated when the product, legal requirements, or operational needs change. Continued use of Kocteau after an update means the updated terms apply.
